At SGBC, we would love for you to join us for worship. We hope and trust that you will be greeted warmly, will grow in faith, and will experience God’s presence.

For more on what to expect, we hope this page will help answer your questions!

  • We are located at 1330 E Centerville Road in Garland, right across the street from Homer B. Johnson Stadium.

  • Our Sunday morning schedule begins at 9:00 AM with Bible study (a.k.a. Sunday School). We have a number of classes, roughly divided by age groups, for children, students, and adults, and would love to help you discover which class is the best fit for you.

The Sunday morning worship service begins at 10:15 AM in the sanctuary and ends between 11:15 and 11:30 AM.

On the first Sunday of the month, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM we host an informal gathering called the Table, which consists of a potluck dinner, a brief worship time, and breakout discussion groups.

On Wednesday nights, we have a fellowship meal at 5:45 PM, which we invite first-time guests to enjoy free of charge. At 6:30 PM, our children dismiss for music classes and Bible time, our students dismiss for games and Bible study, and our adults meet for prayer time and Bible study.

  • SGBC is a Bible-based church. We believe that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect life, die an atoning death on the cross, and rise victorious over sin and death. By professing faith in Christ and following him in discipleship, anyone can know salvation from sin and eternal life with God.

  • Our worship is a blend between traditional hymns, contemporary Christian songs, and music that falls between the two. We are led every Sunday by a talented praise team. Some weeks our Generations Chorale, a traditional choir, leads in worship as well.

Our desire as a multigenerational church is to focus less on fitting tightly into one genre of music and instead to focus on the message we are proclaiming each week—whether with beloved old hymns or beautiful new songs.

  • On any given week, you will see several gentlemen with jackets and ties; you will also see folks in blue jeans. Most of the congregation dresses as you might at an outdoor wedding—nicer than you would at home, but no need to be too formal.

With that being said, your presence in worship is more important to us than your outfit—we just want you in God’s house, whatever your attire!

  • While we love seeing even our youngest kids participating in worship, we have childcare available during worship for all preschoolers if you so desire. You can check your child in at the front door of the Family Ministry Center.

For parents who choose to keep their children with them in worship, we know there may be moments when your child gets extra wiggly and needs a brief break. There is a Parents Room near the foyer if you and your child need just a moment to settle before returning to worship.

  • At the conclusion of each worship service, Pastor Daniel issues an invitation to respond to worship, ask for prayers, or follow up on any decision you’d like to make. You can talk with him then or call the church office anytime during the week to learn more about becoming a member of SGBC.

We accept new members by believer’s baptism, by statement of faith, or by transfer of letter from another congregation.
